May 2010 Information Update

Ok, in no particular order, here are a few pieces of news about the Zone 8 ASG Team:

1. Coaches will be Erin Connell, Arlene Boyd, Roland Esposito, and Rigel Carias.

2. The Games for Track and Field run from Monday, July 19 to Thursday, July 22. The competition days will be Tuesday and Wednesday in Peace River. The track and field athletes will be staying in Grimshaw.

2a. Since this is a "split" Games, track and field athletes could also do another sport at the Games as long as it is schedule in the second half of the Games (July 22-25.) Football would be an example.

3. Supposedly, the track will be 8 lanes and a synthetic surface. However, since construction hasn't started yet, this may not happen. Stay tuned.

4. We have a really tight turnaround time for getting our forms in, so everyone who wants to be selected will need to have their signed ASG form and cheques at the trials in Grande Prairie on June 19. I'll post the ASG form on the website - www.wapitistriders.com

5. I'll be at the Peace Country Classic Meet in Grande Prairie on May 15 and Zones in Grande Prairie on May 28 and 29 if you want to talk to me about the Games.

Keep training - we want to field the best team possible for Zone 8 this year.
